On December 22nd, the 12th Covestro Cup Vocational Skills Competition Award Ceremony and the 13th Covestro Cup Vocational Skills Competition Opening Ceremony were officially held in the Multi-functional Hall of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy. Li Songhao, deputy director of Jinshan Education Bureau, Dr. Ji Wenbin, deputy general manager of Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai, Gao Ju, principal of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy, and Lin Guoxin, Party Secretary, attended the ceremony. The event was hosted by Du Haiyan, Deputy Party Secretary of the school.
Li Songhao pointed out that under the situation that the whole country vigorously promotes the craftsmanship spirit of excellence, and encourages young people to master skills to follow the career of becoming talents and serving the country, the successful opening of this year's Covestro Cup Vocational Skills Competition reflects the school's adherence to and responsibility for vocational education, and demonstrates the enthusiasm and investment of Covestro in the joint training of skilled talents. It is hoped that the school competition organization department will carefully organize and earnestly implement the competition strictly according to the competition requirements, and strive to make this competition an influential, quality and wonderful event. It is also expected that in the new development stage, the school will further inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of promoting teaching through competition, optimizing learning via competition, and combining learning with competition, so as to contribute to the high-quality running of higher vocational education, and find a new way of training technical and skilled talents with distinctive features.
Gao Ju expressed his heartfelt thanks to both Jinshan Education Bureau for its long-term concern and Covestro for its strong support. He pointed out that the Covestro Cup Vocational Skills Competition is an important cooperation project between Shanghai Petrochemical Academy and Covestro Company, which has been successfully held for 12 consecutive years since 2008. The competition has trained many outstanding students who won gold and silver medals in Shanghai Starlight Vocational Skills Competition and even National Vocational Skills Competition, and a number of high-quality talents with professional skills and craftsman spirit have emerged. It is expected that through the competition activities of testing skills and displaying elegant demeanor, the cooperation between SPA and Covestro will be closer, and students will be sure to perform better through continuous efforts.
Dr. Ji Wenbin thanked the school for building a fair and just platform and focusing on the meticulous training of students. He praised the students for their positive spirit and outstanding achievements in the competition, and sent a message to the students who have not won prizes that they should learn to go forward bravely without fear of difficulties, just like the corporate core culture of Covestro. He hopes students will cherish time, increase their knowledge reserves, improve their skills, strive for excellence, make persistent efforts and achieve their life goals bravely.
In the 12th Covestro Cup Vocational Skills Competition, a total of 383 students won awards in 29 projects. Among them, 67 students including Peng Jiawei and Wu Feifei won the first prize, 127 students including Chen Xiangting and Du Ju won the second prize, and 189 students including Xia Yingchun and Yang Hanni won the third prize. In the 9th Shanghai Starlight Vocational Skills Competition, three students of our school, Wang Xinyao, Yang Shan and Peng Jiawei, won the first prize, another three students, Zhang Ting, Lu Tao and Jin Jiawei, won the second prize, and 14 students including Zhu Qiran and Shen Jiahao won the third prize in eight projects which include calligraphy, robot technology application and so on.
After the ceremony, the leaders and guests observed the scene of the competition projects such as pipeline installation and chemical simulation. In this year's Covestro Cup Vocational Skills Competition, there are 8 major categories, including creative design, chemical engineering, mechanical processing, electrical and electronic, information technology, finance & business and tourism, and 32 competition projects. A total of 1,455 students have enrolled to participate in the competition.
Leaders of the Quality Management Department, Human Resources Department and Business Department of Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai, school leaders, teachers of relevant departments and some student representatives of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy attended the activity.
